Girma Ayele is an agriculturalist by profession working in the Ethio-German Technical and Vocational Education and training programme office; Addis Ababa Ethiopia.

 

Girma has graduated from an agricultural college with Diploma and employed right after graduation in the Ethiopian Ministry of Agriculture as a Livestock development Expert and then, got transferred to the rank and function of a Project co-coordinator; and worked totally for 17 consecutive years. He attended a course on farmers service co-operative consultative planning

 

He participated on a workshop in Australia on Forage seed production, handling and storage. He did his Bsc degree in agriculture at the University of Aberdeen (Scotland, UK). He wrote an article on “The role and development of forage legumes to improve livestock productivity and efficiency in Ethiopia”.

 

 He also worked for 3 years as an expert for the Ethiopian Privatization Agency by actively participating in the process of valuation of Government owned farms. He also participated in a workshop on basic business skills, conducted by Price Water house Consultancy firm. Then, Girma joined the Ethio-German Technical and Vocational Education and Training Programme of the GTZ, working at present as a Senior Project Officer by mainly focusing on preparation of training programmes on employment oriented appropriate rural technologies in Ethiopia

 

Girma has actively participated in a course on training of trainers on Competency based Economies, Formation of Enterprises (CEFE). The training was composed of preparation and presentation of a business plan as well as theoretical and practical training in facilitating action oriented and experimental learning exercises. Moreover, recently, he has participated in an intensive course on Business Consultancy Workshop organized by UNIDO, GTZ and Federal Agency for Micro and Small Enterprises of Ethiopia.

 

Girma speaks English language fluently; He married and has two daughters.
