Profile of Menkir Temesgen

Professional Title: Associate Engineer IV

Menkir has a great deal of experience in the following areas:

·                        Designing, Conducting, and Evaluation of Demand Oriented Technical Vocational Training Programs,

·                        Product design and manufacturing,

·                        Installation and Commissioning of Industrial machines, and

·                        Management of Engineering Workshops/Industries.

He is a Certified Associate Mechanical Engineer specializing in fabrication of metals, and Tool and Die Making. He has attended many courses related to Maintenance Engineering Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Supervisory Management, Training of Trainers, Tool and Die Making, and Computer Based Consultancy Services. He has traveled to India, Thailand, and The Philippines to attend various training programs and share experiences.

He had worked with Ethiopian Handicraft and Small scale Industries Development Agency (HASIDA)- now FeMSEDA, for about sixteen years in different positions, dealt with promoting Small Enterprises. Since three and half years back, to date, he has been working as a Project Officer with German Technical Cooperation/ GTZ- TVET---a Program Office which is working on the reform and strengthening of Technical Vocational Training System in Ethiopia. His responsibilities in this organization, among others, are: Training Need Assessments, Curricula and Training materials Development, Development of Training Materials, and Evaluations of Training Programs. During these years, he has organized Training Workshops, developed Demand Oriented Training Courses and related course materials. He has also taken part as a member in a Federal Task Force engaged in carrying out researches on Technical Vocational Training System in Ethiopia. He is energetic, and has also very good teamwork and communication skills. He is happily married with two kids.
