Negash Shiferaw is a young
professional focusing on providing advisory and consultancy services to
SMMEs, NGOs and international agencies on projects development and
management, organizational reengineering and systems development and the
integration of IT products into existing systems. He targets organizations
engaged in agricultural products production, processing and marketing,
construction, and manufacturing.
Negash is an agricultural engineer by education and has attended different training courses and workshops in Ethiopia and the United States on organization and management: total quality management, influence and leadership, logistics management, marketing and marketing management, business law; and on food processing: Food Safety-HACCP, Facilities Designing for food safety, fleet dynamics and optimization and operations planning and management in the food industry. He has developed advanced computing skills for project development and management, graphics and website development, and other applications using different software including MS Project 2000, Primavera 4.0, COMFAR III, MS FrontPage 2000, NetObjects Fusion MX, AutoCAD, MS Office and Publisher and many more. Negash can learn fast and use sophisticated computer hardware and software. Negash has worked in various
consultancy projects as consultant and assistant to local and
international consultants in Ethiopia, Uganda and the United States. He
worked on feasibility studies for the establishment of different
agricultural operations (an irrigated farm, integrated beef cattle
production and processing industry, horticultural production and
processing, a construction materials and components manufacturing plant, a
printing company), appraisal and valuation of existing enterprises for
acquisition (large scale farms, a tobacco plantation and processing
factory, a textile factory, a dairy processing plant) and other related
assignments. Negash has also been involved in the development and editing
of different manuals and has co-developed a materials management manual
for a manufacturing company and developed, by his own, a construction
projects management manual for a real estate company.
Out of the above professional
engagements, Negash has gained extensive travel and visit experience in
Ethiopia and the countries he worked and has developed good reporting,
writing and communication skills both in the Amharic and English
languages. He authored or co-authored more than ten project documents.
Employing his advanced computer skills, Negash teaches MS Project to civil
engineering professionals working in construction projects and computer
basics to fresh man students at a private college. He has developed and
hosted around three web sites. Now, Negash is managing his own consultancy firm,
that he setup with two partners, called BIRTUnet Development and IT
Solutions Plc. (www.birtunet.com) based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He also
works at a private business college as a part time system administrator
and attendant in the computer lab. Negash is a member of different
professional societies and interest groups (Ethiopian Society of
Agricultural Engineers, Soil Science Society of Ethiopia, The Ethiopia
Heritage Trust) and engages in other voluntary activities (in the
formation of Media Coalition Against HIV/AIDS by the UNDP and others). Negash is an Ethiopian national who loves his
country. He has strong vision and commitment for its development and shall
do his best through his professional career and resources. Negash is single and enjoys touring, reading, playing and watching basketball, chess, reading, listening music and visiting family and friends in his spare time.
