Trainer and Consultant Profile: Afework Yohannes

Afework Yohannes specializes in the development and management of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), entrepreneurship development and self-employment efforts.  He, mainly focuses on organizational reengineering and dynamics, human capacity building, employee motivation, business plan preparation, projects planning, management and evaluation, development of marketing strategies, leadership training, e-commerce, international trade practices and gender and advocacy.

He is a BA graduate in Management. He has also obtained a Diploma in the Development and Management of Small Businesses and Industries from Israel, Haifa, Technion Institute of Technology. Among the various training workshops he attended, Entrepreneurship Development Program  (EDP) by Enterprise Africa Program, Ghana; Business Consultancy Training for consulting career by UNIDO, Successful Marketing Principles by High Mark Inc., USA; Training of Trainers (TOT) in Competency Based Economies Through Formation of Entrepreneurs (CEFE) by CEFE International and GTZ; Grassroots Management Training (GMT) Master Trainers’ Course by the World Bank; Gender and Advocacy TOT by The African Center For Empowerment, Gender and Advocacy; Goal Oriented Project Planning workshop by GTZ, Logical Framework seminar by EU are few once.

In his a decade and half long work experience, he worked in Handicrafts and Small Industries Development Agency and the Ministry of Industry for about nine years, GTZ-EU Reintegration Program for displaced persons for about three years and his own consultancy firm named BCaD-Consulting Management since 1998. He has worked in different managerial capacities from beginning to date. His work experience reflects his strong competence with the promotion of MSMEs, low cost housing projects, income generating and credit lending schemes, vocational training schemes, and different community development endeavors. His passion for hard working and research in the generation of employment has triggered him to face the challenges of entrepreneurship through a consultancy and trainer career. In his consultancy and training efforts he has developed multiples of business contacts with different donor and development organizations like the World Bank, GTZ, DSW, IIZ/DVV, Enterprise Ethiopia, CCF, CCFC, Redd Barna, to mention but a few. He is always rated excellent in his delivery of adult training in any program area he involves.

Afework plans to establish a SME Management Training Center in the near future. He is happily married and has two lovely boys.
