Profile of Mahalet Zawdneh

I was educated at the University of Toronto, in Canada, where I obtained a Bachelors Degree (major in Accounting, minor in Economics & French). Subsequent to my graduation, I joined the ‘Client Accounting Services’ department at Price Waterhouse (in Toronto), where I was providing pre-audit accounting services for small and medium enterprises. I have also worked with the Canadian National Railway on a short-term project on financial analysis. Prior to my graduation, I have worked as an administrative assistant for a small consulting company and a non-profit organization.

I am continually improving my skills and knowledge. A very intensive training/course on Business Consulting (funded by UNIDO) has provided me with very useful tools that can be applied to analyze any company, in particular Small and Medium Enterprises. I have also attended a time-management workshop provided by Franklin Covey.

I have very good communication, writing and presentation skills. I am fluent in English, French & Amharic and have a fair understanding of Italian. My background in French comes from living in Switzerland (Geneva) for seven years, where I have completed my high school in French and attended the University of Geneva (completed 1st year courses in ‘Gestion d’Entreprise’).

In June 2001, I moved back to Ethiopia along with my husband and two daughters. I am now interested in working with small and medium enterprises, both locally and abroad.
